Are you CONFIDENT of the long-term performance of your Firestop products ?

Your confidence is assured with SELF SEAL® FIRESTOPPING PRODUCTS.

Patented Intumescent:
  • Maintains its structure and intumescent function even after rigorous ANSI/UL1479 accelerated aging and high humidity tests.
  • Char-composite effectively seals service penetrations.
  • Responds quickly in a fire situation.

    100% Silicone Reliability:
  • Withstands wide temperature range
  • Primerless adhesion
  • High resistance to UV, ozone, sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide
  • Remains pliable for decades
  • Withstands water exposure
  • Can outlast latex products

ANSI / UL1479 mandatory exposure tests:
  • Accelarated aging - 270 days @ 700
  • High Humidity - 180 days @ 350C and 97 - 100% Relative Humidity
Our confidence in the Self-Seal intumescent products encouraged us to conduct supplementary exposure tests
  • Industrial Atmosphere - 30 days in a 1% by volume atmosphere of Sulfur Dioxide (S02) and an equal volume of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) @ 350C with moisture present.
  • Combination Wet, Freeze abd Dry Cycling - Simulated raindall at a rate of 0.7 inch per hour for 72 hours, followed by a temoerature exposure of minus 400C for 72 hours. and then a dry temperature exposure of plus 600C for 72 hours. Test samples were cycled 12 times.

Two Important Features of Self-Seal Firestopping Products:
    1. The first patented intumescent firestop product to demonstrate that after rigorous accelerated aging conditions, it can continue to expand effortlessly and uniformly to form a char-composite that properly seals service penetrations in a fire situation.
    2. 100% silicone elastomeric technology. Silicones have a wide variety of advantages over organic latex (see below).

In addition to the superb line of 100% Silicone Firestop Solutions, Self-Seal GG-266, Type SSC, Type SSR and FireBand are already in compliance with the 3rd edition of ANSI / UL1479 “Fire Tests of through penetration Firestops” to be effective May 23, 2006.

ANSI /UL1479 Compliant Self-Seal Firestopping Products include:
  • GG-266 Intumescent Silicone Caulk:
This single component, neutral cure, non-slumping intumescent caulk exhibits excellent performance stability. The 100% silicone based caulk ensures a seal superior to a latex based firestop.

  • Type-SSR Firestop Rings:
These silicone rubber intumescent insert rings are available for 1.5”, 2”, 3” and 4” trade pipe sizes and will rapidly seal combustible pipes in a fire-rated walls and floors.

  • FireBand Wrap Strips:
This silicone rubber intumescent wrap strip is encapsulated within a poly bag. The Self-Seal Fireband is pre-fabricated to fit 1.5”, 2” and 3” trade pipe sizes (Available in Canada Only)

  • Type-SSR Firestop Rings:
These silicone rubber intumescent insert rings are available for 1.5”, 2”, 3” and 4” trade pipe sizes and will rapidly seal combustible pipes in a fire-rated walls and floors.

  • Why are Silicone Firestopping Products an optimum choice?:
  • Extreme temperatures during shipping and storage can ruin many water-based latex firestops, but silicone based firestops allow for worry free transportation and storage.
  • Primerless adhesion to many substrates, ie. glass, metals, plastics and concrete
  • High resistance to atmospheric gases. ie. ozone, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide
  • Silicones last for the long-term and remain flexible for decades and will not harden, crack or become brittle. This ensures that Self-Seal firestops will maintain their crucial sealing properties.
  • Unaffected by Ultra-Violet radiation.
  • Will withstand exposure to water often found on construction sites.
